I am a researcher and trained social worker with over a decade of experience in the urban sector, focusing on the intersections of poverty, planning, and governance. My academic training in social work and habitat studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, combined with field-based research, has shaped my interest in the multidimensional nature of exclusion and inclusion in Indian cities, particularly concerning housing, sanitation, and informal livelihoods.
Currently in the final stages of my PhD at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, the experiences gained during my academic and professional journey have shaped my values, perspectives, and knowledge base. I uphold values of community empowerment, nurturing leadership within communities, collectivization, and inclusive development. I have worked on several national and international research collaborations, contributing as a researcher and a project manager. My responsibilities have included designing methodologies, coordinating multi-stakeholder teams across institutions, overseeing budgets, managing timelines, conducting field research, documentation, research writing, and ensuring the delivery of complex, multi-site projects.
Before my academic research and project engagements, I worked with a reputed non-government organization. As a part of the organization’s middle-management team, I undertook project management and organizational development roles. I headed an independent project with migrant workers and was also responsible for setting up the national desk for advocacy and networking.
I bring to my work a strong commitment to praxis, rigorous qualitative research skills, and an ability to navigate academic, field, and policy spaces. This platform serves as a space to showcase my work and foster collaborations with institutions and individuals committed to inclusive and just urban development.
